The Population Council is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources. The Council’s major program areas are HIV&AIDS, reproductive health and poverty, gender, and youth. The Council conducts biomedical, social science and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing countries. The Population Council works in collaboration with a broad range of Nigerian institutions.
The successful candidate will provide administrative and clerical services in an effective and efficient manner that will ensure that Council operations are maintained to high standards. This position will also provide full support administrative to the Country Director.
Bachelor’s degree in English language/Secretarial studies, Administration or closely related field
2 to 4 years of relevant experience (With 1 + year of administration) or a satisfactory combination of Education and relevant experience. NGO experience desirable.
Proficiency with office systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint):
Knowledge of graphics is useful Proficiency in written and oral English.
Excellent communications skills (e.g interpersonal, Writing, presentation, negotiation) Organized and results-orientated.
Ability to work in complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform.
Ability to work both independently and effectively with all levels of employees with minimal supervision, in addition to also functioning well as part of a team.
Bright, confident personality, highly personable. flexible and mature.
