Purpose

As part of our Human Resource Development initiatives, NDDC is embarking on Foreign Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme to equip Niger Deltans with relevant training and skills for effective participation in the local content programme of the current administration as well as compete globally in various professional fields. The Scheme is for suitably qualified applicants with relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree from recognized Universities in the following professional disciplines:
Engineering
Medicine
Computer Science/Technology
Geology
Geosciences
Environmental Sciences
Graduate Pilot Training
Agriculture
Applicants must have gained Post Graduate admission into a recognized University abroad.

Qualification

First Degree with minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division for those wishing to undertake a master’s Degree programme and a good Master’s Degree for PhD candidates from a recognized University.
Gained Admission into a Post Graduate Programme in any of the listed disciplines in a foreign University.
Bond of good conduct from any of the following persons from the applicant’s community/clan.
a. Member of National Assembly
b. Chairman of the LGA.
c. First class traditional ruler.
d. High Court Judge
Persons with evidence of cult membership or criminal record shall not be considered for the award.

Application

Application must be made On-line at the Commission’s website: ( www.nddc.gov.ng) with the following attachments:
Recent passport photograph
Local Government identification letter.
Post Graduate (PG) admission letter from Overseas University.
Relevant Degrees from recognized University.

Successfully completed application form will be assigned a registration number automatically.
Print the hard copy of the on-line generated acknowledgement for ease of reference.
All shortlisted applicants will be posted on NDDC website.

All completed applications must be submitted on or before 31st December, 2012

Chevening Scholarship 2013/2014

We are now accepting applications for 2013/14 Chevening Scholarships in Nigeria. The closing date for applications is 14 December 2012.

Please note that there are new English language requirements for 2013/14 applicants and you MUST have a valid English language certificate BEFORE applying for a Chevening Scholarship. If you do not have an existing eligible test certificate you should book an English language test NOW.
All Nigerian applicants must have a valid English language certificate. Only applicants who have been awarded a Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following countries are exempt from submitting an English Language test:

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, Singapore, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, the UK, and the United States of America.

Internship Program – Session I 2013,African Development Bank

The broad objectives of the program are to:

Provide students with an opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.
Provide the Bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes.
However applicants should not expect the internship to lead to immediate employment with the AfDB.

Duties and responsibilities

The fields of study from which interns shall be selected must be within the job families of the Bank, particularly Economics, Agriculture, Private Sector Development, Human Capital Development (education and health), Environment, Finance, Infrastructure Development, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Communications, Law, Internal Audit, Budget, Governance or any other field of study that the Bank may deem relevant to its operations.
Special consideration shall be given to students who are working on projects that have a direct bearing on the mission of the Bank.
Internships shall be performed either at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan, at the Temporary Relocation Agency in Tunis (Tunisia) or in any one of the Bank’s field offices.
The program is annually run for two sessions as follows:
Winter – Session I: January through March.
Summer – Session II: June through August.
Interns shall be responsible for their air travel (where applicable) to and from the Bank’s location as well as their upkeep.
Interns shall be responsible for their medical and accident insurance coverage, and for obtaining entry and residence visas in the host country of the Bank.
The internship will be authorized only once for any candidate.
Interns will be provided with a monthly stipend, depending on the budget availability.

Qualification

To be eligible for internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must be:
Students, aged between eighteen (18) to thirty (30) years, and currently enrolled in a Master’s level degree program or its equivalent in a recognized public or private institution of higher learning.
The candidate can apply for an internship within one year of having obtained such a degree.
Provide a letter from their school confirming their enrollment.
Citizens of one of the Bank’s member countries.
Applicants must be fluent in; at least, one of the Banks’s working languages (English or French).

Facilitates and ensures proper execution of all agreed and approved training plans and also develops training materials for all in-house trainings in liaison with subject matter experts
Supports and executes quality training delivery in line with approved budgetary provisions
Maintains training facilities on site and ensure proper accountability and management for all departmental assets and inventories
Liaises with the Manufacturing Excellence team to build Manufacturing Excellence capabilities and Competency Acquisition Programme (CAP)
Supports the preparation and regular update of Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all manufacturing/production processes
Actively pursues training and development on an individual and team basis as well as participate in competency based training programs

Qualification

Bachelors degree in Sciences or Engineering
Minimum of 3 years managerial experience in a manufacturing role
Formal education in Training and/or Human Resource Management is an added advantage

FHI 360 is a global development organization with a rigorous, evidence-based approach. Our professional staff includes experts in health, nutrition, education, economic development, civil society, environment and research. FHI 360 operates from 60 offices with 4,400 staff in the U.S. and around the world.

The FHI 360 Four Pillars PLUS “Improving Girls Secondary Education” in Nigeria project aims to improve the quality and relevance of secondary education for girls and other vulnerable children (OVC) and boost retention rates in Benue State, Nigeria. The project will offer scholarships, girls’ mentoring, teacher training, and encourage community participation to address the complex barriers to education for girls and OVCs. The project will also support the transition of girls from secondary school to the formal workforce with training and internships. This is a 3 year project with funds provided annually.

Purpose

The Project Officer will be responsible for providing overall technical support, advice and guidance to staff as well as overall supervision of technical and financial responsibilities. The Project Officer will ensure that all donor deliverables are met on time and with quality, and will perform all the responsibilities and duties related to supporting beneficiaries in secondary school, vocational training and internship programs.

Qualification

Msc. degree in Sociology, Psychology or related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience with increasing responsibility in the educational sector or working with OVCs.

Or Bsc. degree in Sociology, Psychology or related field, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience with increasing responsibility in the educational sector or working with OVCs.

This will include contributing to the development and implementation of activities and supervising and supporting in-school professional development.

Qualification

Advanced degree in education and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the field of curriculum and instruction, early grade reading/literacy, teacher training, bilingual education, and/or assessment; demonstrated ability to work with government agencies on teacher training programs.

Selected candidates will be responsible for managing and overseeing program activities at the State level, working collaboratively with staff to provide logistical support, mange staff issues, and manage external relations. She/he will also be responsible for developing implementation plans and budgets, overseeing financial management, communications, and information technology; overseeing M&E; and serving as the project representative at the State level.

Qualification

Degree in Business Administration, Management, Education or related field; at least 7 years experience managing staff, budgets, and logistics to coordinate a large-scale program, preferably in the education sector. Experience working at the State level and with governments and NGOs.
