United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) helps its partners in the United Nations System meet the world’s needs for building peace, recovering from disaster, and creating sustainable development.
UNOPS is known for its ability to implement complex projects in all types of environments around the globe. In Nigeria, UNOPS is implementing The Niger Delta Job Creation and Conflict Prevention Initiative which aims at mitigating the violence in the Niger Delta through job creation and conflict prevention initiatives to the vulnerable unemployed youths in the region. The project is jointly funded by the Delta State Government, United Nations Development Project (UNDP) and Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (SPDC). This specific project covers a variety of sectors including training of beneficiaries in livelihood vocational skills development, job creation, mind-set change and conflict prevention initiatives. To achieve these’ objectives, UNOPS alongside the partners are setting up a befitting vocational training centre in Egbokodo, Warri, Delta State and would require the services of suitably qualified individuals.

Purpose

Drive office or project vehicles for the transport of authorized personn
Received and take visitors to and from the airport, assisting with immigration formalities as required
Take care of the daily maintenance of assigned vehicle, oil check, water, battery and breaks
Log officials, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes and greasing
Follow all rules and regulations in relation to the management of UNOPS vehicles
Collect and deliver mail, documents and other items
Ensure all vehicles comply with the minimum operating security standards MOSS

Qualification

At least SSCE
At least 3 years experience preferable with an international NGO or UN agency
Elementary motor mechanic skills
Driving license with at least 3 years old

Purpose

The overall objective of this position is to mitigate the risks posed to the programmes, personnel and assets in SC in Nigeria through the provision of specialized, coordinated and focused security management support.

Qualification

Bachelors degree in a related field
Formal security qualification or advanced security management training
Advanced level of understanding with the philosophy and mode of operation of NGOs
Recommended a minimum of 5 years field based experience in complex and insecure settings, preferably in more than one country with large teams of staff
Experience in liaising with civilian, police and military government authorities, as well as with regional, national and international institutions
Experience of incident reporting, incident mapping, intelligence collation and analysis functions, set up and execution of an incident warning system (warden system), compilation of security reports and assessments
Strong analytical capacity, resourcefulness and creativity in developing the role of security within programmes and ensuring the most effective support to line management
Ability to balance demands of beneficiary and security actors while maintaining appropriate contextual NGO security advice and coordination
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments
Competency in Internet and Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other database/mapping systems
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Knowledge and understanding of Nigeria and Sahel region
Ability to speak Hausa is an advantage

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position of Foreign Service National Investigator in the Regional Security Office.

Purpose

Incumbent serves as an advisor to the Regional Security Office (RSO) on all matters of security. In addition to conducting US Embassy job-related investigators, the incumbent conducts sensitive criminal and consular fraud investigations. The incumbent maintains regular liaison between US Embassy RSO and Abuja local police and other Government of Nigeria (GON) security entities. The incumbent stays well-informed of all securityrelated matters to provide up-to-date security briefings to new LES and to the RSO.

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences is required.
Minimum of three (3) years of prior experience in a law enforcement office is required.
Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading in English is required.
Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading in Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba is required.
Advanced security and law enforcement experience in Nigeria as well as an understanding of the security apparatus are required.
Candidate must possess a valid professional driver’s license.
Candidate must possess ability to independently resolve discrepancies and negative perceptions between Nigerian police/other GON security authorities and
the RSO/US Embassy.
