Head of Regional Risk,Lagos,Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc
The Standard Bank Group merged its Nigerian operations, Stanbic Bank Nigeria with that of IBTC Chartered Bank PLC. The merger, by way of the first ever tender offer in Nigeria and a $525 million FDI, the largest in Nigerian financial history, gave birth to a new entity now known as Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC which became part of the Standard Bank Group.
Purpose
Take ownership and responsibility for the Risk division’s interface with the appropriate financial bodies and other key regulatory/prudential stakeholders across the region
Develop effective, collaborative relationships with Standard Bank South Africa (SBSA), Senior management teams across business lines and Risk Type Heads across the region
Ensure the Risk division’s compliance with all current and prospective regulatory and prudential requirements across the region
Co-ordinate the Reverse Stress Testing framework and the Risk processes within the stress testing programme for the region
Co-ordinate the ICAP process for Risk across the countries in the region
Participate in and be a member of key committees and structures relating to Prudential Risk Management and Governance, including Excos and ALCOs across the region
Be the central Risk contact point for all Risk interaction with rating agencies including participation in the annual rating process and any updates required from time to time across the region
Play a central role in the ownership and co-ordination of all prudential requirements between Risk and Finance across the region
When and if required, “double-hat” in a combined “Regional Head of Risk” and “Country Head of Risk” role
Provide input to the performance and career management of the Heads of Risk within the region
Adhere to and manage within the budget set for the countries in the region, and conduct other day-to-day Risk management responsibilities for the Risk function within the region
Provide on the ground support, co-ordination, guidance and advice on Risk issues and decision making required across the region

Qualification
A successful track record as a senior banker and risk manager with significant experience dealing with regulatory matters
Proven track record of operating at a senior level and delivering across an organisation
Proven ability to manage and co-ordinate relationships and decisions with various stakeholders across Risk types and functions within the organisation
Broad-based experience within financial services, including investment and wholesale banking
Possess a broad risk understanding ideally across credit, market country and operational risk. Of greatest importance is regulatory, credit and market risk. Technical knowledge of credit measurement and modelling would be considered an advantage
Strong policy, process and project management experience
Experience of implementing change in a complex environment
International experience, combined with a global perspective, multicultural sensitivity, preferably gained within a matrix-managed multi-product environment.
